ONE OF AFRICA’S LARGEST PUBLIC BROADCASTERS SELECTS GLOBECAST AND SPACECOM’S STN-7 FOR PERMANENT SNG SERVICES14.11.2018
Cape Town – 14 November 2018: Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), operator of the STN satellite fleet, and Globecast, the global solutions provider for media, announced today a partnership to provide satellite capacity for permanent SNG (Satellite News Gathering) services for one of Africa’s largest public broadcaster. Via Spacecom’s STN-7 Africa KU-band beam, Globecast is providing a long-term solution for the broadcaster. Provision of the service began in September 2018.
Alan Hird, Managing Director of Globecast in Africa, said, “We work with satellite partners around the world, providing the most appropriate capacity for each and every customer by working closely with them to understand their precise capacity and service requirements. We are pleased that our partnership with Spacecom has been selected as the most appropriate in this instance.”
According to Spacecom’s Sr. VP Sales, Jacob Keret, “STN-7’s unmatchable power together with excellent elevation angle provides an optimal solution for broadcasters seeking efficient and reliable satellite transmission service. The satellite’s capabilities allow this broadcaster to uplink HD-on-the-move all within one beam that covers all of Southern Africa. Our new contract as the satellite operator for permanent SNG services is another business development step as we prepare for the upcoming 2019 launch and beginning of services for our STN-17 satellite.”
Spacecom (Space-Communication Ltd.), operator of the STN-3 and STN-7 satellites co-located at 4°W, and STN-4 at 65°E, provides high-quality broadcast and communication services to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia via direct-to-home (DTH), Internet service providers (ISPs), mobile network operators (MNOs), telecom operators, network integrators and government agencies.
With the addition of STN-17 in 2019, Spacecom will further expand its reach reinforcing its position as a leading multi-regional satellite operator.
